Residential Burglary Arrest

On July 4th 2018 Chief Deputy Larry Miller and Deputy Bernard Box were dispatched to a residence on Nevada 8 near the Columbia County line in reference to a Residential Burglary.

Upon arrival family members were met at the residence whom stated that the owners Franklin and Jane Pennington had been contacted and were on their way home.

After the Pennington's arrived they found that numerous jewelry and coin items were missing along with a safe.

Chief Deputy Miller contacted investigators with the Columbia County Sheriff's Department advising them of the burglary due to location of the burglary.

On Thursday the 12th day of July Chief Deputy Miller was contacted by Investigator Leroy Martin with the Columbia County Sheriff department stating that he had recovered a safe from the side of Columbia County Road 29 and that items inside of the safe had the Pennington's name on them.

Investigator Martin also advised that Lafayette County had individuals incarcerated at their facility that were in possession of items matching the description of possible property from the Pennington burglary.

Chief Deputy Miller contacted Sheriff Obie Sims from the Lafayette County Sheriff's department, obtaining pictures of the items the suspects were in possession of. These items were later identified by the Pennington's as belonging to them and were missing from their residence.

Chief Deputy Miller and Investigator Robert Missey traveled to the Lafayette County Sheriff's department and interviewed the suspects in custody there.

Kalvin Jacob Bailey W/M from Magnolia, Ar was interviewed along with Shaunna Hageness W/F from Stamps.

Hageness eventually confessed to the burglary at the time.

Warrants were issued from Nevada County for the arrest of Kalvin Bailey and Shaunna Hageness for the burglary and theft of property.

Kalvin Bailey was interviewed at the Nevada County Sheriff's department and also confessed to the crime.

Due to statements given by both Bailey and Hageness a warrant was issued for another W/F Kady Phillips from Texas.

Kady Phillips was picked up on the warrant and confessed to the burglary also.

Numerous items were located that were stolen from the Pennington residence and returned to the owners.

Anyone with any information on the location of other items stolen from this residence are asked to call the Nevada County Sheriff's Department at 870-887-2616.
